name: Jin Ban (Jean Ban)
-15, Female

-born of a Chinese father and an American mother.
-from a young age she was convinced her father would have preferred a male child; to make up for this she dresses as a boy and tries hard to be the son her father wanted.
-her mother is named Janet, so she named her daughter 'Jean'. Her family and schoolmates pronounce Jean as 'Jin'.
-she started flying kites because it's a 'boy's thing' but developed a true love for it.

about her kite:

-the kite is based on the Jian, a pair of birds that each have only one eye and one wing, and depend on each other to live and are inseperable, which represent husband and wife.
